All right ~ I am REALLY going to try hard at the whole 15 minute post thing this time. I don't know though, does it make a difference how long it takes? Of course it does, because that affects whether or not it's daily or catch as catch can, eh?
Oh crap, I forgot to put on music....
I like to listen to music as I write. I have on this great song called ~Chale Chalo~ from an Indian movie called Lagaan. It was a great movie, I loved it. Especially the dancing, the music and the clothing. And if you like that, you will probably also like the soundtrack from Black Hawk Down. Now, the movie is really sad, actually, but the music is AWESOME. Another fantastic soundtrack is from Gladiator. One of my all-time favorites!
I suppose in all reality, there isn't too much music that I DON'T like. Twangy cryin-in-yer-beer country drives me crazy, and I can't abide by heavy metal and quite a lot of rap, other than that, it's open.
Have you ever listened to ~Two World Concerto~ with Carlos Nakai, or ~Prophecy~, with the Blue Chip Orchestra & Red Spirit Ensemble? Some more serious favorites. Those two albums are fantastic fusions of classical/Native American/almost techno. They give you a sort of soundtrack-type feel, the way ~Enigma~ , Mask Behind the Mirror does, without really being ascribed to any particular movie or show.
I have been researching techno lately, and I like a lot of what I have come up with. I recently ~acquired~ some new techno trance from a friend that I really like as well. This one song ~Shiny Disco Balls~ is pretty funky.
Yes, it's true, I am an mp3 whore....... oh the SHAME! But I justify it all, cuz I DID pay initially to get the download program. If you want a good one, I like LimeWire, you can download audio, media, movies, text, basically anything you can think up to look up, all for a one time fee of $49.95!! I can justify that. :-D
Besides which, downloading is sort of like the radio used to be.
Putting music out over the radio did several things. A) More people could listen to it, B) More people would go looking for that particular artist & purchase more of his music, & of course, C) Eventually, people could set up a tape recorder and get it off the radio for themselves.
So, I think the internet is like the radio, in many ways. A) It certainly does give a wider audience, B) If you really like the artist, you go out and buy the stuff you can't find, or you order it online, & of course, C) Eventually, you start downloading a whole ton of crap, and end up having to get a new computer for it all, not to mention all the blank cd's, label programs, iPOD's, portable dvd players, AND ETC, to listen/watch/enjoy it all. So see, maybe the music industry isn't getting EVERYTHING they would out of the deal if you went and bought their cd, but, if they are wise, and invest in all that other afore-mentioned paraphenalia, they make it up and then some.
Tight little justification, eh? Hey man, I'm good at that ~ see my halo? I polished it just yesterday. ;-D
Uh-oh ~ houston, we have a problem ~ I just spent all my blog-time justifying my obsessive-compulsive disorder regarding music. Well, at least it wasn't regarding other uhhmm ..... topics.
More on that later. hehehehehehehe
