Mental illness ~ could it be your drugs, the lack of God, both?

I was astounded by this article, & wanted to share it with everyone I possibly could.
I wholeheartedly agree with Mr. Kupelian, as I have personally seen many examples on both sides of the coin ~

Why so many Americans today are 'mentally ill'

"When I was lying in my bed that night, I couldn’t sleep because my voice in my head kept echoing through my mind telling me to kill them."
You're reading the words of 12-year-old Christopher Pittman, struggling to explain why he murdered his grandparents, who had provided the only love and stability in his turbulent life. He was angry with his grandfather, who had disciplined him earlier that day for hurting another student during a fight on the school bus. So later that night, he shot both of his grandparents in the head with a .410 shotgun as they slept and then burned down their South Carolina home, where he had lived with them........

To finish the rest of the story, please follow this link, it's long but VERY well worth it! ~

I think about this a lot. My sister is bipolar.

My own opinion is that there are SO MANY mind altering drugs, that well... people's minds have been altered by them. Legal or illegal. They are all doing the same thing - altering the mind.

My sister is to the point that she MUST have lithium, or sometimes other drugs, in order to not harm herself or others.

But it all started with alcohol. Then pot. Then cocaine.

You cannot tell me they had nothing to do with her current state. (Although my mom constantly does try, because she wants to believe what the media tell her...)

Thanks for the article. It made me think. :)

I wanted to be funny and say, "Because some men drive us nuts..."
But I don't want to take away from the seriousness of the subject. I don't think there are more than when I was a kid, just more awareness. My mother, who is an RN spent part of her training in a mental hospital many years ago and the brain function is a facinating subject to her.
People will self-medicate with alcohol and illegal drugs when the medical establishment does not recognize something is wrong in the up or down regulation of the brain. I saw what happened with my own cognative function when my thyroid stopped functioning and then what happened when I was placed on the right thyroid meds. People are under the illusion that we have control over our thoughts than we do.
